How is the income from the campaign pledges being used?

Twenty-five percent of the first 2 million is going to children's and youth ministries, and the remainder will eliminate the debt we owe on the recent renovation and expansion. Our children's ministry is growing faster than we ever dreamed, and our vision for our youth ministry is to expand and provide greater opportunities for the young people in our community. It is so important to meet the needs of all the youth and children God is sending to us.

How much was pledged in the God's Vision, Our Future campaign?

A total of $1,942,647 was pledged in 2006. To date, February of 2008, $1,346,123 has been received. The three year cycle ends in April of 2009.

Why not pay off the debt over a long period of time, say 30 years?

The amount of interest paid on the debt continues to increase as rates increase, and we would end up paying a lot more.

How is the debt paid?

Annual principal payment and monthly interest payments.

How much has been given to capital campaigns over the last 8 years?

$6,643,616 has been given to remodel our church and expand over the last 8 years. The original loan was $8,000,000. We're on the home stretch!

Are people who have started attending the Cathedral in the last two years welcome to make a commitment to the campaign?

Absolutely! A commitment card can be mailed to your home or you can pick one up at the church. Everyone will receive a commitment card on Celebration Sunday, April 27th. Through thoughtful prayer and consideration of what God has done in our lives, we will discern what God is calling each of us to do.

What's happening with the block to the north (a.k.a. Block 75)?

At this time, nothing. At some time in the future, the membership of the church will need to decide how it will be used. None of the money raised in this capital campaign will be used to develop Block 75. This campaign is focused solely on reducing the debt and supporting our youth and children's ministries.
