Affinity Groups

Affinity groups are designed for people with common interests to share fellowship support, talents and/or skills.  Currently, the following Affinity Groups are active.  If you wish to participate in any of these types of groups, please contact the coordinator for more information.   If you would like to form a new group, we encourage you to talk about your ideas with Director of Outreach, Cindy Todeschi, at ctodeschi@boisefumc.org.

The Quilting Group 10:00 – 2:00pm. Leader: Mimi Wellington (938-9034) Location: Olivet Room Since its creation in 2009, the Cathedral Quilters’ Ministry has been making quilts for worthy causes. Quilts have always been gifts of love and comfort, and we feel called to make quilts for people in need. Little did we know, when we started coming together on Thursdays to sew, that we would be graced with fellowship that has given us all love and comfort.

We have also been astounded by the generosity of the church community. We’ve received many yards of fabric, magazines, books, and tools. We hope that you continue to be so generous. We also invite you to join us in our mission. All skill levels are welcome.In June we presented our first quilts to Boise Foster Care, in the hope that they will give children in the foster care program a sense of permanence as well as comfort in their sometimes chaotic lives. We are providing seven quilts to Foster Care.In the future, we will give quilts to area hospitals, law enforcement departments, shelters, and other organizations. We’re hard at work on the next quilts! Please join us in this wonderful outreach! The Thursday Book Club The Thursday Book Club meets twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 1pm in the Bishop’s Lounge.  They enjoy reading a variety of books and sharing discussion and fellowship with one another.  New members are always welcome.  For information and a current reading list, please contact Ruth Garrison at:  362-6316 The Sandwich Club A social group for those who are caught in mid-life between raising kids and/or caring for elderly parents.  Meets for fun and fellowship several times a year.  Contact:  Cindy Todeschi 343-7511 ext. 253. Serendipity A social group for those who are retired…or thinking about retirement.  Fun events, meals, and activities.  Contact:  Claudia Gerhardt 929-9232. Bridge Group Meeting at the church on the first and third Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the Bishop’s Lounge for a friendly game.  Contact:  Betty Graffe at 368-9620. Pinochle Group Meeting at the church on the first and third Fridays of every month in the Bishop’s Lounge.  Play starts at 6:15pm and light snacks and refreshments are served.  Contact:  Billie Barnack at 658- 0896.
