Duane Anders

Duane Anders Senior Pastor

Rev. Anders served as Lead Pastor at Stillwater UMC in Dayton, Ohio for 18 years. Stillwater is a church that has grown from 35 to over 800 people worshiping at 3 sites. He also served as the District Superintendent of the Miami Valley District in the West Ohio Conference for 7 years, overseeing 160 churches while continuing to be lead pastor at Stillwater. He and his wife Catherine have four children. Duane is originally from West Virginia.


Kathy Abend Amity Campus Pastor

Kathy is the new Amity Campus lead pastor, coming to us from Burley United Methodist.  She is a graduate of Garrent-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago. She and her husband Chris are the parents of 4 adult children. Kathy is a great preacher and a change agent.

Steve Tollefson

Steve Tollefson Pastor Emeritus

Rev. Dr. Steven A. Tollefson began full time ministry in the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference in 1976 when he was appointed to to Heppner UMC, Oregon. In 1979, he was appointed to a new church development in southwest Boise called Amity United Methodist Church. Eight years later, Steve was appointed Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Salem, Oregon. In 1995, Steve was appointed Senior Pastor of the Cathedral of the Rockies and retired in July 2012 from full-time ministry. In June 2013 he returned to serve as Campus Pastor at our Amity Campus.

Joe Housh

Joe Housh Assistant Pastor

Rev. Albert Joseph Housh graduated from Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois in 1959. Joe served seven churches in the Nebraska and Northern Illinois Conferences before being appointed to the Oregon-Idaho Conference. He served Nampa First United Methodist from 1978-1990 and Whitney United Methodist in Boise from 1990-1997. Joe retired in 1997 and joined the Cathedral as an Assistant Pastor, assisting with worship, weddings and funerals, teaching and leading Biblical historical tours.

Tim Forbess

Tim Forbess Pastor in Residence

Rev. Forbess is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, having served as Vice President of Development at United Theological Seminary and pastor of First United Methodist Church in Dayton, OH. Tim will be working with both campuses in helping to set a financial vision for our future, assisting with Stewardship and serving as consultant to our “Count Your Blessings” campaign and the Legacy Committee. Tim lives in Dayton, OH with his two beloved dogs, Lukas and Frankie.


Jerri Walker

Jerri Walker Executive Director

Jerri joined the staff of the Cathedral of the Rockies in 2006.  Most of her career has been working with non-profits in Florida and Idaho.  Jerri joined the Methodist church in the 80’s and found the all inclusive environment refreshing.  As a licensed therapist she worked closely with the several of the Methodists churches in Florida and has continued working in the field since her move to Idaho.  Jerri is happy that her daughter and family followed her to Idaho and her two active grandsons infuse her life with fun and laughter.

You can always go to Nancy for whatever you need; if she doesn’t know, she will find the answer for you! Before coming to Cathedral of The Rockies, Nancy worked in the travel industry for 25 years. Although Nancy was born in the Midwest, she has lived in Idaho all her life and considers herself an Idahoan at heart. She enjoys watching all sports, reading, and being with family. She has 2 daughters who live in the Boise/Meridian area, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who make family gatherings exciting.

Hillary Hahn Ministry Support

Hillary  graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Health Science Studies before joining the Cathedral staff in 2014. Born and raised in Boise, Hillary is a true Idahoan; she loves cheering on the Broncos, running on the Greenbelt, and everything Idaho potatoes – especially french fries. Hillary grew up in the Methodist church and has a heart for many ministry areas. On Sundays, you will find Hillary singing and dancing downstairs in the Children’s Ministry department. During the week, you will likely find her behind the Hospitality Desk assisting in many of our local missions.

Debbie Greber Accountant

Debbie grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area. She received her degree in Business Management from West Virginia University. She has worked primarily doing accounting for non-profit businesses and most recently was the Financial Manager for First Presbyterian in Hot Springs, AR. Debbie and her husband Brian have lived in many areas of the country before making Boise their home in 2006. They have two children, Jamie and Hayden.

Melanie Scheckel

Melanie Scheckel has worked in a variety of Administrative and Accounting positions over the past 15 years, most recently for an Affordable Housing non-profit in Boise. She joined the Cathedral staff in 2013.  Although she has lived in five other states, she was born in Idaho and has been back in the state for nearly seven years.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, singing, watching movies, researching various theological and historic topics, creative writing and working on the occasional film project.

Paul Aitken

Paul Aitken Director of Music and Worship Arts

Since 2002, Dr. Paul A. Aitken (b. 1970) has served as Director of Music & Worship Arts, overseeing twenty ensembles, a year-round concert series, and a professional staff spanning both the downtown and the Amity campuses. He has been commissioned by organizations such as the American Guild of Organists, the State of Idaho, and the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale. Aitken made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2010 conducting And None Shall Be Afraid with a choir of 200. Dr. Aitken holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and the University of Oklahoma.

Matt Roos

Matt Roos has been singing and playing guitar since he was a child, performing with numerous choirs and professional ensembles.  He has written and produced advertising jingles, and co-wrote the song “Celebrate Idaho!”, the Idaho Centennial Song.  Currently, Matt enjoys performing with acoustic duo Willison Roos, as well as leading the Disciples in Denim here at the Cathedral.

Marc Herring

Marc came to the Cathedral in 2010, where he leads the 11:30 service. He is loving life in Boise and glad to be a part of our community, inside and outside the church building. When he’s not playing scales or pondering the genius of various rock’n’roll legends you might see him hanging out at one of our great local pubs or coffee houses, riding his bike, teaching some guitar lessons, gardening, or playing music around town with his friends.


Michelle Pedersen Associate Director of Music

Before coming to the Cathedral in 2012, Michelle was the choral director at Howard St. Charter School in Salem, OR. She was also the Director of Christian Education and Choral Music at First Congregational Church of Salem, United Church of Christ. Ms. Pedersen has a degree in both Vocal Performance and Music Education from Oregon State University, where she has been a featured soloist, not only in Oregon, but also in Costa Rica, China, Canada, and Taiwan.

David Young Cathedral Organist

Before coming to the Cathedral, David was organist at All Saints Episcopal Church in Boise, and also previously served as Organ Scholar at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City.  David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organ Performance & Pedagogy from Brigham Young University. He practices law with the Idaho Attorney General’s Office as a Deputy Attorney General.  He is a member of the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists.  David and his wife, Adria Belnap, live in Boise and stay active with their three children.

Jenny Willison

Jenny Willison Director of Adult Discipleship

Jenny received her B.S. in Education from Indiana University and an M.S. in Environmental Education from Southern Connecticut State University.Jenny taught at both the elementary and the university level, and has served as a K-8 staff developer and program director, presenting to national audiences on the topics of community-based curriculum and service learning. At the Cathedral Jenny works with a team of small group leaders and class presenters dedicated to helping ensure every member and attender is engaged in an intentional path of discipleship. Jenny is also part of the Worship team, planning and designing the 10am worship service.  She enjoys bringing together experiences and training she enjoyed as an educator, with her passion to connect others in community, worship and spiritual growth at the Cathedral. Jenny and her husband Scott have 3 kids, and in her spare time she enjoys performing locally with the band Willison Roos.

Erik Quissell Director of Youth Ministry

Erik has 13 years of experience in teaching science and is currently on staff at Boise High School. As a teacher and soccer coach, Erik has tremendous passion and energy in working with young people and has a successful track record in forming supportive and healthy relationships with his students. Erik is a life long Christian who grew up in the Nazarene tradition and received his B.A and M.A from NNU. Erik and his wife, Tracy, are active members of the Cathedral.


Tracy Quissell Youth Ministry Coordinator

Tracy joined the Cathedral staff in 2011. She was born and raised in Ritzville, WA and attended Northwest Nazarene University, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology.  Her professional background includes advocacy for children with special needs, teaching, and retail management.  She and her husband, Erik, spent their first two years of marriage on the beautiful Oregon coast, then decided to “dry out” and return to Boise in 2003.  They have three young children and enjoy hiking the foothills, biking, camping, and road-tripping together.

Andee Stockton Director, Parent’s Day Out

An Idaho native, Andee received a Business Degree from Boise State University in 1991. After working for a financial planning company and a local Chamber of Commerce, volunteering became a focal point for Andee. She began using her extra time establishing parks as a City of Meridian Parks and Recreation Commissioner. She created the Boise Optimist Football Cheerleading program and directed it for five years. Andee now enjoys hanging out with the PDO kids in the nursery and spending time with Larry and their two children, Janae and Cole.


Maggie Beltrami Director, Wesleyan Preschool

A native San Franciscan, Maggie joined the Wesleyan Preschool in 1999, assuming the role of Director in 2000. She holds a BA in Child Development from San Francisco State University and has worked with young children for over 25 years. An active community volunteer, Maggie serves on the board of the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children, volunteers with Step Ahead Idaho assisting high school students with academic planning and college applications, and is a past president of the Junior League of Boise. She has lived in Boise for 15 years with her husband and two daughters.


Heather Sarria Director, Kids Are Special People

Heather has been in the field of early childhood for over 15 years as a teacher, assistant director, family child care specialist and a USDA food program monitor. Heather has been the program director at Kasp since 2002.  She has studied early childhood at universities in Boise and Portland.  She mostly recently received a director credential from the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership.  She believes in quality care for all children and is committed to developmentally appropriate practices. Heather is proud of the work happening each day at KASP.


Joe Prin

Joe Prin Building Superintendent

Joe Prin has been a professional Remodeling Contractor, Handyman and avid Do-It-Yourselfer in the State of Idaho since 1994.  Recently, he hung up his tool belt and became the Building Superintendent for the Cathedral of the Rockies, First United Methodist Church in Boise, Idaho.  He is also an author, newspaper columnist, and talk radio Host of the HomeFix Radio Show heard live every Saturday morning from 7-10 AM MST on KBOI AM 670.

Steve started working at the Cathedral in 2009. He quickly found it to be a home and family. Steve does a little bit of everything at the Cathedral, from general cleaning duties to maintaining the HVAC system to landscaping, etc. and is even going through Lay Pastor training, helping out where needed. Steve has been in just about every nook and cranny of the Cathedral, and his knack for finding things tucked away in these nooks and crannies has earned him the nickname of Church Mouse.

After graduating from Boise State University with degrees in illustration and music, Meredith was delighted to join the Cathedral staff in 2012, where she is able to dabble in both.  When she’s not in the office or playing horn in one of many community ensembles, she can be found sewing stuffed animals, painting, drawing, and paper cutting, or pouring over beautiful picture books in the children’s section of the local bookstore.  She loves never-growing-up with her husband, Aaron, and their two siamese(ish) cats.

Rick Strader Audio/Visual Director

Rick Strader has performed and managed operas, musicals, summer-stock companies, Metropolitan events and orchestras across the United States. He has performed and managed in more than 350 musical and dramatic productions since he was 5 years old starting at the Springer Opera House in the State Theatre of Georgia. In the seven years he performed in summer-stock, Rick honed his skills in the technical side of the theatre arts as well with Cortland Rep and Clinton Summerstock. He has been in lead roles as director, production manager, set designer and lighting designer for such shows as Show Boat, Cabaret, Gypsy, Annie Get your Gun, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, Noise’s Off,  Man of LaMancha and Peter Pan w/ Flying by Foy. Rick has been in Who’s Who of opera and was technical adviser and performer for Piccolo Spoleto USA in Charleston S.C. He was company stage manager for Robert Ivey Ballet and has held the same position for Ballet Idaho. He filled the role as props master for Opera Idaho and then tech irector afterwards. Mr. Strader is at present the tech director at the Brandt Center on the Campus of Northwest Nazarene University and is pleased to be the audio/visual director for the Cathedral of The Rockies. Rick has been member of the staff with the Cathedral for over 17 years.
