Jennifer Drake, the Cathedral’s newest member of the ministry of music family, is no stranger to the Boise Music scene. The most enthusiastic violist you will ever meet, Jen Drake has been playing viola since age 10. Jen performs with the Boise Philharmonic and the Boise Baroque Orchestra in addition to Darkwood Consort. Jen also teaches over 40 private viola students, and serves as the adjunct strings faculty for Northwest Nazarene University. Recent solo performances include the Magic Valley Symphony, Treasure Valley Symphony, Boise Baroque Orchestra and Timberline, Boise and Capital High School Orchestras. She has also performed at the 33rd International Viola Congress, held in Reykjavík, Iceland and the World Bass Clarinet Convention in Rotterdam, Holland. In Michigan, she directed pre-school music programs, handbell choirs, church choirs and coached singers for musicals for several years. With an earned reputation of being the third worst skier in all of Idaho, she is married to Chad Marvin, who is the Pastor of Worship and the Arts at Second Baptist Church, and who is a writer for Universal Music Group. Jen will be taking on the administrative & directorial responsibilities encompassed by the Celebration and Jubilation aged choirs; she will also assist the Ministry of Music as the staff director of the Cathedral Bell Choir and will develop the Cathedral Orchestra in cooperation with David Young.
